Incentivise made it consecutive Gr.1 wins and eight in a row with another front running performance in Saturday’s Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.
The former Queenslander was clear around the home turn and momentarily looked under pressure but was always holding the challenge of Young Werther and Chapada with the favourite Verry Elleegant in fourth.
Bookmakers now have Incentivise the favourite for the $5m Caulfield Cup on October 16 and Australia’s greatest race, the Melbourne Cup in November.
Incentivise is the fourth Gr.1 winner for Cox Plate winner Shamus Award (Snitzel) who retired to Widden Stud and is now at Rosemont Stud in Victoria where he is advertised at $33,000.
Breeder, part-owner and former trainer Steve Tregea purchased Miss Argyle for $270,000 at the 2007 Magic Millions August Thoroughbred Sale as a broodmare prospect.
She has since produced eight winners, highlighted by four stakes winners including Incentivise, a three-quarter brother to Gr.3 Concorde Handicap and Gr.1 Waikato Sprint third Ardrossan (Redoutes Choicer).
Incentivise is also a half-brother to Brisbane Listed winner Bergerac (Drumbeats) and Tasmanian Listed winner Cheyenne Warrior (Not A Single Doubt), both pair sired by sons of Redoute’s Choice.
Their dam Miss Argyle (Iglesia) finished runner-up in the L.R. Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick at two and a sister to L.R. Doomben Slipper winner Diamondsondinside.
The third-dam Showsay (Head Over Heels)is a half-sister to Gr1 Queensland Oaks winner Mother Of Pearl (Rascolnik)
Miss Argyle died in 2020.
