Fastnet Rock was represented by two new stakes winners on Saturday with Gino Severini (SW163) in New Zealand and The Harrovian (SW164) in Australia.
Irish-bred Gino Severini (pictured) left it late but got there in the final strides to defeat The Mitgator (Master Of Design), winner of the race last year, in the Gr3 Great Northern Challenge Stakes (1500m) at Ellerslie.
It is the sixth win from 28 starts for Gino Severini, a half-brother to seven winners including Champion Euopean 2YO Filly of 2019 Millisle (Starspangledbanner), Scottish Listed winner Ithoughtitwasover (Hurricane Run) and Listed-placed Greenisland (Fasliyev), the dam of French Listed winner Shamson (Invincible Spirit).
Later in the day, The Harrovian extended his winning sequence to 10 in the Listed Recognition Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.
The Harrovian is a brother to Gr3 Bobbie Lewis Handicap winner We’re Gonna Rock, their dam Harrow (Dehere) a winning half-sister to Gr1 Waikato International Stakes winner Bluebird The Word (Bluebird) and Gr1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill winner Porto Roca (Barathea), the dam of Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso (Dubawi).
