Truly Great is SW13 for Dundeel winning the Gr3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m) at Ascot.
Truly Great came from a little worse than midfield before the home turn to finish best in the home straight and defeat Glow (Street Cry) by 1-1/2 lengths with Moschard (Moshe) third.
It is the sixth win from 10 starts for the Bob Peters-homebred half-brother to three winners including Gr3 Western Australia Oaks winner Special Alert (Not A Single Doubt).
Their dam Truly Special (Jeune) a winner in Perth and a sister to seven-time winner and Gr3 Rain Lover Plate at Morphettville runner-up Jeune’s Reign.
The granddam Reigning Belle (Military Plume) won five races including the Listed Morphettville Guineas.
Truly Great is inbred 4×4 Sir Tristram and six-time Gr1 winner Dundeel has recent Gr2 Wakeful Stakes winner Victoria Quay with a similar duplication.
Champion 3yo and New Zealand Horse of the Year in 2013-14, Dundeel (High Chaparral) is advertised at $66,000 at Arrowfield Stud in 2020.
