14 for First Defence

Tilsit is SW14 for First Defence after winning Friday’s Gr3 Thoroughbred Stakes (1 mile) at Goodwood.

In an incident packed race, Stewards enquired into the result after Tilsit lugged in towards the rail inside the final furlong when being ridden into the lead.

Stewards decided the movement had not affected the result and placings remained unaltered, Tilsit defeating My Oberon (Dubawi) by 1-1/2 lengths with Khaloosy (Dubawi) in third.

It is the second win from three starts for Tilsit.

Tilsit is the only named foal of Multilingual (Dansili), a sister to Gr2 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot winner Remote and half-sister to Champion and Classic winner Kingman (Invincible Spirit) and to Pleasantry, the unraced dam of UK Listed winner Repartee (Invincible Spirit).

The granddam Zenda (Zamindar) won the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and a half-sister to Gr1 Oasis Dream (Green Desert).

Gr1 Forego Stakes winner First Defence retired to Juddmonte Farm in Kentucky and now stands at stud in Saudi Arabia following his sale in 2016.
