Captain Magnum is SW64 for Kodiac winning Sunday’s Premio Divino Amore (1000m) at Rome.

Buried away midfield through the earlstages of this straight race, Captain Magnum came with a strong finish inside the final 200m to defeat longtime leader Live On Stage by half a length with Virgin Isla third.

Inbred 2×4 to Danehill, he is the first stakes winner for two generations of his pedigree, his dam Natural Appeal (Dark Angel) unraced and his granddam Brazilian Flame (Camacho) also unraced and a half-sister to Premio Torricola at Rome winner Meanya (Revoque) and to Queen Boadicea (Revoque), the dam of Gr2 July Stakes at Newmarket winner Classic Blade (Daggers Drawn).

The third-dam Brazilia (Forzando) a half-sister to Gr2 King’s Stand Stakes winner Dominica (Alhaarth).

Kodiac was advertised at €65,000 at Tally Ho Stud in 2020. He also has USA Gr2 winner True Valour out of a mare by Acclamation, the sire of Captain Magnum’s broodmare sire
