Mac Swiney is SW53 for New Approach after emulating his sire to win the Gr2 Futurity Stakes (7f) at The Curragh.
Mac Swiney looked under pressure two furlongs out when racing in second place but stayed on in determined fashion to defeat Cadillac (Lope de Vega) by half a length with Ontario (Galileo) the same distance off in third.
Like New Approach, Mac Swiney is bred and trained by Jim Bolger and is now the winner of two of his four starts.
The first stakes winner to be inbred to Galileo (2×3), Mac Swiney is one of two winners for his dam Halla Na Saoire (Teofilo), an unraced sister to Gr2 Derrinstown Derby Trial Stakes at Leopardstown winner Light Heavy and three-quarter sister to Gr1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket winner Parish Hall (Teofilo).
