Kenshinko is SW5 for Pyro after winning Sunday’s Gr3 Leopard Stakes (1800m) in course record time at Niigata.
Kenshinko made most of the running and was first into the home straight, quickening clear to defeat Miyaki Kokuo (Victoire Pisa) by 2-1/2 lengths with Blank Cheque (Pyro) third.
Kenshinko is the second winner for Matriarca (Cryptic Rascal), the winner of 10 races in Japan.
His immediate female generations are Japanese, descended from the Marcel Boussac-bred Naic (Gainsborough), the dam of Grand Prix de Deauville winner and sire Jock (Asterus) with Kenshinko’s fourth dam Course Line (Fidalgo) inbred 4×5 to Naic through Fidalgo’s broodmare sire Jock.
