The Revenant is the 44th Gr1 winner for Dubawi winning Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (1 mile) at Ascot.
The Revenant had no trouble coping with the testing ground and stalked the leader Roseman (Kingman) to the home straight where gradually asserted his superiority to score by a head with the odds-on favourite Palace Pier (Kingman) beaten over three lengths into third.
It is the 10th win from 13 starts for The Revenant, previously the winner of the Gr2 Badener Meile and two runnings of the Gr2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein at ParisLongchamp.
He is the best of three runners left by Gr3 St Simon Stakes at Newbury winner Hazel Lavery (Excellent Art), a half-sister Italian Listed winner Leo Gali (Galileo), also placed in the Gr3 St Leger Italiano.
The third-dam Rapid Repeat (Exactly Sharp) is a winning half-sister to Gr3 Derrinstown Derby Trial winner Artema (Common Grounds) and French Listed winner Hello Soso (Alzao).
The Revenant is inbred to Seeking The Gold and Shirley Heights and Dubawi has Gr1 winners Al Kazeem, Coronet and Sobetsu out of mares by Darshaan (Shirley Heights) while Gr1 winners Hunter’s Light and Journey have Shirley Heights as their maternal grandsire.
