Schnell Meister is SW35 and the fourth Gr1 winner for Kingman taking Sunday’s NHK Mile Cup at Tokyo.
Allowed to settle worse than midfield as Pixie Knight set a strong pace, Schnell Meister had taken closer order approaching the home turn and then let down with a big finish to edge Songline (Kizuna) by a nose at the finish with the favourite Grenadier Guards (Frankel) a further 2-1/2 lengths away third, the 1600m completed in a slick 1:31.60. Jockey Christophe Lemaire told the JRA there is more to come from the three-year-old.
“There is still a lot of greenness in Schnell Meister and has a lot of room for improvement but once he’s established himself physically, he should be able to handle the best at G1 level.
Schnell Meister is out of the Gr1 Preis der Diana winner Serienholde (Soldier Hollow), a half-sister to German Gr3 winner Serienhoehe (High Chaparral).
The granddam Saldenehre (Highest Honor) a Listed placed winner at two in Germany and a half-sister to four stakes winners including Gr3 Deutscher Stutenpreis winner Saldenschwinge (In The Wings), herself the dam of German Listed winner Swinging Duke (Duke Of Marmalade), and Gr3 Wurttemberg-Trophy winner Saldentigerin (Tiger Hill), dam of Gr1 Preis der Diana winner Salomina (Lomiras), herself the dam of Japanese Gr1 winner Salios (Heart’s Cry).
Schnell Meister’s dam is by Soldier Hollow (In The Wings) and Kingman also has recent US Gr1 winner Domestic Spending with In The Wings (Sadler’s Wells) as his maternal grandsire as well as Japan Gr2 winner Elizabeth Tower out of a mare by Doyen (Sadler’s Wells).
Kingman also has stakes winners Headman, Nausha, Boomer, Fox Chairman and Roseman out of mares carrying Sadler’s Wells.
Kingman is advertised at £150,000 at Banstead Manor Stud in 2021.
