Snowfall is SW175 for Deep Impact winning Wednesday’s Gr3 Musidora Stakes (10f 56y) for 3yo fillies at York.
Allowed an uncontested lead in this traditional Oaks trial under Ryan Moore, Snowfall set steady fractions until beginning to quicken for home three furlongs out and was untroubled in the run to the line to defeat the favourite Noon Star (Galileo – Midday) by 3-3/4 lengths with Teona (Sea The Stars) in third. It is the second win from eight starts for Snowfall, the only foal to race for Gr3 Give Thanks Stakes at Cork winner Best In The World (Galileo), a sister to Champion and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and Breeders; Cup Turf winner Found, the dam of last year’s Gr2 Vintage Stakes at Doodwood winner Battleground (War Front).
Best In The World is also a sister to Gr3 Park Stakes at The Curragh winner Magical Dream and to Gr3 Flame Of Tara Stakes at The Curragh winner Divinely.
The granddam Red Evie (Intikhab) the winner of the Gr1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.
Deep Impact was euthanised in July 2019 as a result of a spinal injury.
