Captain’s Ransom was settled in fourth place to the home turn, coming to challenge two furlongs out before drawing away to defeat Princess Calla (Flower Alley) by 2-1/4 lengths with Chat Ching (Duke Of Marmalade) in third.
It is the fourth win from five starts for the Justin Snaith-trained Captain’s Ransom, a R225,000 yearling.
She is one of three winners out of Cinna’s Ransom (Red Ransom), an unraced half-sister to Gr3 Prix de Saint Georges at Chantilly winner Black Rock Desert (Danzig) and Japanese stakes winner Toyo Seattle (Deputy Minister).
