Our Hail Mary is SW13 for Ocean Park winning the Gr3 Trentham Stakes (2000m) at Trentham.
The five-year-old also had to overcome a less-than-ideal trip, unable to settle into a smooth rhythm as defending champion Camino Rocoso went out hard and opened up a 20-length lead down the back straight.
Camino Rocoso was on tired legs in the home straight and Our Hail Mary finished strongly to reach the lead 100m out and then held the late flourish from Fiscal Fantasy (Skilled).
Previously Listed-placed, it is the sixth win from 13 starts for Our Hail Mary.
She is the best of three winners out of Repenting (Ekraar), a winning sister to four-time Gr1 winner Shez Sinsational, whose wins included the Auckland Cup and Zabeel Classic and the dam of Listed Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Wairarapa winner Sinarahma (Darci Brahma).
The granddam Original Sin (Shinko King) won twice in New Zealand and runner-up in the Listed Soliloquy Stakes at Ellerslie, she a half-sister to Shinnecock.
