111 & 112 for Snitzel

Bruckner (111) and In The Congo (112) gave Snitzel two new stakeswinners on Saturday, Bruckner winning the Gr3 HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield and In The Congo making all the running to win the San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Kembla Grange.

Buckner (pictured) tracked the leaders General Beau and Zerelle to the home turn before the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained three-year-old did best in a driving finish to hold off Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Artorius (Flying Artie), who came from last, by a short-neck with Heresy (Street Boss) close up third.

Bruckner sold for $725,000 as an Inglis Premier yearling and is a three-quarter brother to Gr3 Vain Stakes at Caulfield winner Jukebox (Snitzel).

Inbred 4×5 Dancing Show (Nijinsky), Bruckner is the second stakes winner for Snitzel from Lonhro mares from 5 runners

In The Congo led all the way to defeat Paulele (Dawn Approach) by a neck win with Captivant (Capitalist) a head away in third.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained In The Congo sold for $350,000 as an Inglis Australian Easter yearling and races in the China Horse Club colours.

Bred by Nordic Racing and Breeding, In the Congo is the second foal and second winner for his dam Via Africa (Var), a triple Group I winner and the Champion Sprinter in South Africa in 2013-2014 when her wins included the Cape Flying Championship.

Snitzel is advertised at $165,000 this season at Arrowfield Stud.
