11 for Ocean Park

Ocean Beyond is SW11 for Ocean Park winning Saturday’s Mitchell McKenzie Stakes (1200m) for 3yos at Moonee Valley.

Smartly away, Ocean Beyond raced in second place on the outside of Deep Score to the home turn where he gradually asserted his authority to draw away and defeat Deep Speed (Deep Field) by half a length with Free To Move (Unencumbered) finishing third.

It is the second win from as many starts for Ocean Beyond, purchased privately by trainer Daniel Bowman after being passed in at $60,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock 2019 Ready-T0-Run sale from the draft of Ohukia Lodge.

A half-brother to two winners, Ocean Beyond’s dam Frankly (Pins) won four races in New Zealand and a sister to Listed Lightning Handicap at Eagle Farm winner Keano and three-quarter sister to Listed Carbine Club Stakes at Ascot winner Pinzu.

Frankly is also a half-sister to Gr3 Vanity Stakes at Flemington runner-up Be Delicious (Danasinga) and to Aroon (Volksraad), the dam of Gr3 C.S. Hayes Stakes at Flemington winner Take The Rap (No Excuse Needed) and Red Delicious (No Excuse Needed), the dam of New Zealand 2000 Guineas winner and Champion NZ 3YO of 2018-19 in Madison County (Pins).

The granddam O’Really (Centaine) is a winning sister to Gr1 winner and Champion sire O’Reilly (Last Tycoon).

Ocean Park (Thorn Park) also has Gr3  winner Another Dollar and Listed winner Pretty To Sea out of mares by Pins (Snippets). He was advertised at $20,000 at Waikato Stud in 2020.
