Bathrat Leon is SW11 for Kizuna leading all the way in Saturday’s Gr2 New Zealand Trophy (1600m) at Nakayama.
Bathrat Leon led virtually all the way and was untroubled to defeat Time To Heaven (Lord Kanaloa) by five lengths with City Rainbow (Epiphaneia) in third.
He is the only foal to race out of Bathrat Amal (New Approach), a half-sister to Gr1 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine winner Serious Attitude (Mtoto), the dam of Japanese Gr2 winner Stiffelio (Stay Gold).
The granddam Zameyla (Cape Cross) won twice in England and a half-sister to UK Listed winner Army Of Angels (King’s Best).
As a broodmare sire New Approach (Galileo) also has the English Listed winner Katara by Kizuna’s sire Deep Impact.
Champion 3YO colt in Japan in 2013 winning the Tokyo Yushun, Kizuna (Deep Impact) stands at Shadai Stallion Station.
