Second for Tonalist

Country Grammer is the second SW for Tonalist after winning Thursday’s Gr3 Peter Pan Stakes (9f) at Saratoga.

Country Grammer raced behind the lead to the home straight where he was able to come through along the inside and edge Carcaro (Uncle Mo) by a neck in a driving finish.

It is the second win from five starts for Country Grammer, a $60,000 Keeneland September yearling then a $450,000 Ocala 2yo.

He is the third winner for his dam Arabian Song (Forestry), a winning half-sister to Gr2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood runner-up Bodes Galaxy (Marju).

The granddam Prima Centauri is a half-sister to Gr1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp winner Etoile Montante (Miswaki) and to Jolie Etoile (Diesis), the dam of Preferential (Dansili), a Listed winner in France and then North America.

His fifth dam is Champion Chris Evert (Swoon’s Son).

Gr1 Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist (Tapit) is advertised at $15,000 at Lane’s End in Kentucky in 2020.
