Frankely is just Awesome

Frankely Awesome’s in the W J McKell Cup (2000m) at Rosehill in Australia was important on different levels.

In the first instance, she became the 54th stakes winner for Frankel, secondly she justified the exercise and expense of Bruce Neill in breeding the four-year-old to southern hemisphere time, and thirdly, she added her name to those feature race winners inbred to Allegretta.

And to double down on this, Frankely Awesome’s fourth dam is Allegretta herself.

At this stage, the bulk of the 10 stakes winners inbred to Allegretta are through Galileo and his sons, namely Masar (New Approach), Cayenne Pepper (Australia), Impulsif (New Approach), Tantheem (Teofilo), Frankely Awesome (Frankel), Fireglow (Teofilo) and Southern Hills (Gleneagles).

The Indian Listed winner Vijays Singham is by Leitir Mor, a son of Holy Roman Emperor out of a Galileo mare while Irish Listed winner Rakan is by Sea The Stars out of a mare by Teofillo so is 2×3 to Urban Sea.

Frankely Awesome is the first foal of stakes-winning Street Cry mare Street Secret (USA) who was purchased by Meridian International for 48,000 guineas out of the Darley draft at Tattersalls in February 2012 as the winner of two of her five starts including one at Epsom in England.

She went on to win the Listed Open Mind Stakes at Belmont Park as well as placing in Listed races in France and Germany.

At the Fasig-Tipton November Breeding Stock Sale in 2013, Street Secret was purchased by Australian-based bloodstock agent James Bester for $US535,000.

Street Secret’s dam Always Awesome (Awesome Again) was Listed placed in Canada and is a half-sister to the Group 1 Deutschland-Preis winner Anzillero (Law Society).

Her third dam Anzille (Plugged Nickle) is a half-sister to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Urban Sea (Riverman) and the 2000 Guineas winner and sire King’s Best (Kingmambo).

Urban Sea is the dam of Group 1 winners Galileo (Sadler’s Wells), Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) and Black Sam Bellamy (Sadler’s Wells) and her Listed winner Melikah (Lammtarra) left four stakes winners and is the third-dam of Derby winner Masar (Galileo), also inbred to Allegretta.

Altruiste (Diesis – Allegretta) failed to win however is the dam of French Listed winner Alpine Snow (Verglas), herself the dam of Gr2 Prix Corrida winner Armande, a daughter of Sea The Stars and therefore also inbred to Allegretta.

Cressfield sold Street Secret in foal to Snitzel at the 2017 Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $680,000, purchased by Australian-based bloodstock agent Paul Moroney on behalf of Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock.
