Best Of Lips is the first SW for The Gurkha winning Sunday’s Preis des Winterfavoriten (1600m) for 2yos at Cologne.
Although racing wide in midfield from a wide draw most the way, Best Of Lips improved in the home straight to press for the lead 400m out, going on to defeat Sea Of Sands (Sea The Stars) by 3-1/2 lengths with Mythico (Adlerflug) third.
It is the second win from three starts for Best Of Lips, led out unsold at 90,000gns at last year’s Tattersalls October yearling sale.
He is the only named foal of Beata (Silver Frost), a winner in France and a half-sister to Gr1 Prix de Diane winner Bright Sky (Wolfhound) and Gr3 Prix de Psyche at Deauville winner Board Meeting (Anabaa), herself the dam of Listed Prix Michel Houyvet at Deauville winner Big Blue (Galileo).
The granddam Bright Moon (Alysheba) won the Gr2 Prix de Pomone at Deauville and placed in the Gr1 Prix Vermeille.
