Montefilia is the first SW for Kermadec winning the Gr1 Flight Stakes (1600m) for 3yo fillies at Randwick.
Montefilia was towards the rear of the small field into the home straight but finished determinedly to wear down Hungry Heart just when it looked like that filly had the race won.
It is the third win from six starts for the David Payne-trained Montefilia.
Kermadec (Teofilo) won the Gr1 George Main Stakes and Doncaster Handicap when trained by Chris Waller and retired to stud under the Darley banner in 2016 with his oldest offspring now three.
He is advertised at $13,750 at Darley Kelvinside in 2020.
Montefilia’s dam Bana Wu (Shirocco) won over a mile a quarter at Newbury as a three-year-old and was placed three times at Listed level including the Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot.
The granddam My Way (Marju) was unraced and a half-sister to Gr2 July Stakes at Newmarket winner and sire Strategic Prince (Dansili) and Aston Park Stakes at Newbury winner Yorkshire (Generous)
The third-dam Ausherra (Diesis) won the Lingfield Oaks Trial and placed in the Gr3 Lancashire Oaks and Prestige Stakes.
