Step By Step sold for €19,000 as an Arqana Deauville yearling to Broadhurst Agency then made €26,000 at the Arqana 2YO Breeze-Up sale where he was bought by trainer Yann Barberot and has now won three of his five races.
A half-brother to two winners including German Listed placed Auctorita (Authorized), Step By Step’s dam Anavera (Acatanango) won over 2000m in Germany.
Anavera is a half-sister to Gr1 Preis der Diana winner Amarette (Monsun), the dam of Gr3 winner Amazona (Dubawi) and granddam of Gr1 Criterium International at ParisLongchamp winner Alson (Areion).
Anavera is also a half-sister to German Listed winner Anatola (Tiger Hill), the dam of Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Almandin (Monsun).
Winner of the Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes and runner-up in the Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes at two, Sidestep (Exceed And Excel) was Champion First Season Sire in Australia 2018-19 when his daughter Kiamichi won the Gr1 Golden Slipper Stakes.
Sidestep (Exceed And Excel) stands under the Darley banner at Telemon Thoroughbreds in Queensland where his fee in 2020 is advertised at $16,500 including gst.
