Group 1 winning sprinter Ribchester will replace his sire Iffraaj in shuttling to Haunui Stud this season.
No less than 15 of Ribchester’s 16 starts were at Group level, 11 of those at Group One level including four wins – the Prix Jacques le Marois (1600m), Lockinge Stakes (1 mile), Queen Anne Stakes (1 mile) and Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (1600m).
Ribchester will relocate from Darley Australia and his fee at Haunui in 2020 has been set at $15,000 plus gst.
Haunui Farm Managing Director Mark Chitty said the decision to replace Iffraaj was taken in the interests of the horse.
“After lengthy discussions with the team from Darley, we have made the decision to retire Iffraaj from Southern Hemisphere serving duties after 12 years. At 19 years of age, the decision was made solely in Iffraaj’s best interests.
“Iffraaj will be sadly missed by all of us here at Haunui and we wish the Darley team every success with him as he continues his career in the Northern Hemisphere.”
