Pulmonary disease has forced the retirement from active stud duty of Not A Single Doubt.
Arrowfield Stud announced the news on Tuesday afternoon following a diagnosis of pulmonary disease, which has shown no improvement despite treatment.
“He suffers respiratory compromise at rest and even short periods of hand walking exacerbate this,” Arrowfield chairman John Messara said on the stud website.
“Our head vet has advised that Not A Single Doubt is incapable of performing his breeding duties and accordingly he has been retired from active service.
“Not A Single Doubt is a wonderful story for Arrowfield and for many breeders, owners, buyers and trainers, rising from the bottom of our roster to become one of Australia’s most popular and successful stallions.
“We are immensely grateful to him, and he will be loved and cared for at Arrowfield for the rest of his life.”
Bred at Arrowfield, Not A Single Doubt is from the first-crop of champion sire Redoute’s Choice (Danehiil). Winner of the Listed Canonbury Stakes at two, Not A Single Doubt also finished runner-up to Dance Hero in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. At three he landed the Listed Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield and finished second in the Gr 3 Schweppervescence Cup, retiring with four wins from 10 starts.
Retired to stud in 2005, Not A Single Doubt is the sire of 69 stakes winners from 1000 to 2600 metres, including 25 juvenile stakes winners and 11 Group 1 winners headed by Extreme Choice, Kenedna, Miracles Of Life, Scales of Justice, Secret Agenda, Single Gaze and Samadoubt.
He was advertised at $110,000 in 2019.
