Bravas is SW80 for King Kamehameha following his narrow win in Sunday’s Gr3 Niigata Kinen (2000m).
Bravas came from midfield into the home straight then finished strongly to edge longtime leader Jinambo (Deep Impact) by a head with Sanrei Pocket (Jungle Pocket) a neck away third.
It is the fifth win from 12 starts for the Northern Racing-bred four-year-old entire.
His dam Verxina (Deep Impact) won the Gr1 Victoria Mile at Tokyo twice as well as finishing runner-up in the Yushun Himba and Oka Sho and a sister to Champion Vivlos, winner of the Gr1 Meydan Turf.
Verxina is also a half-sister to Gr1 Japan Cup winner Cheval Grand (Heart’s Cry).
Tokyo Yushun winner King Kamehameha (Kingmambo) was euthanised at Shadai Stallion Station in August, 2019. His sire sons include Lord Kanaloa, Rulership and Duramente.
