Umm Kulthum left it late but finished best of on the far sider of the course to defeat Scarlet Bear (Kodi Bear) by one length with Lullaby Moon (Belardo) the same distance away in third.
Umm Kulthum was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for £75,000 at the Goffs/Arqana Breeze-Up sale.
She is the first foal of Queen’s Code (Shamardal), a three-quarter sister to Gr3 Killavullan Stakes and Gr3 Strensall Stakes winner Dubai Prince (Shamardal).
The granddam Dehbanu (King’s Best) won in France at three and a sister to UK Listed placed Cadre and a half-sister to the unraced Ruby Ridge (Acatenango), the dam of Gr2 Santa Ana Stakes winner and Gr1 Ashland Stakes runner-up Tuttipaesi (Clodovil).
Kodiac (Danehill) also has Gr1 winner Hello Youmzain out of a mare by Shamardal and is advertised at €65,000 at Tally Ho Stud in Ireland in 2020.
