Treasured Star is SW20 for Toronado winning the Gr2 West Australian Guineas (1600m) at Ascot.
The Peters-homebred filly came from midfield before pouncing on the lead in the home straight and going clear to defeat Stay Safe (Safeguard) comfortably.
Treasured Star is 5×5 Special through Sadler’s Wells and Nureyev and Toronado is showing a liking for mares carrying Special (Forli – Thong) with Gr2 winners Affair To Remember and Still A Star plus Gr3 winner Senor Toba (also 3×4 Sadler’s Wells) plus Flemington Listed winner Shelby Cobra bred this way.
Toronado’s best performer, the Gr1 sprinter Masked Crusader is bred similarly with his granddam being by Encosta de Lago, a son of Sadler’s Wells brother Fairy King and so 4×4 Fairy Bridge.
Fairy Bridge can also be found in the Australian Listed winner Rainbiel whose dam is 4×3 Fairy Bridge and with Perugino (Danzig – Fairy Bridge) as her maternal grandsire
Gr1 winner Toronado (High Chaparral) currently shuttles between the Haras de Bouquetot in France where he is advertised at €8000 in 2021 and Swettenham Stud in Victoria where he is advertised at $49,500 in 2021.
Treasured Star is one of two winners out of Treasured Gift (Big Brown), an unraced half-sister to dual Gr.3 winner Battle Hero (Stratum).
The fourth dam Habaine (Centaine) is a sister to La Rose Noir, the dam of Sydney Listed winner Espurante (Flying Spur) and half-sister to Listed winner Urbane (Sir Godfrey).
Further back and Treasured Star’s sixth dam Georgina Belle (Pakistan II) won the Hawkes Bay Hastings Stakes in New Zealand.
