Sunday’s Cocked Hat Stakes (11f) at Goodwood winner Khalifa Sat is the second SW for Free Eagle.
Khalifa Sat made most of the running and stayed on strongly to defeat Emissary (Kingman) by a neck.
Bred in partnership by Declan Phelan and the Irish National Stud, Khalifa Sat sold for €20,000 as a foal at Goffs then at the same venue and as a €40,000 yearling. He is a three-quarter brother to Gr3 Give Thanks Stakes winner and Gr1 St Leger runner-up Unsung Heroine (High Chaparral) and the Australian Listed placed Ghostmilk (Golan).
His dam Thermopylae (Tenby) is a sister to Singapore Listed winner Carry The Flag and half-sister to Gr1 Gran Premio di Milano winner Posidonas (Slip Anchor) and Listed winner Final Verse (Mark Of Esteem).
Gr1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Free Eagle (High Chaparral) is advertised at €12,500 at the Irish National Stud in 2020.
Free Eagle also shuttled to Cornerstone Stud in South Australia for three seasons from 2016 through 2018.
