Thundering Nights is SW17 for Night Of Thunder after winning the Gr3 Snow Fairy Stakes (9f) at The Curragh.
Thundering Nights was poised to challenge two furlongs out and went clear one furlong out, staying on well to defeat Albigna (Zoffany) by 1-1/2 lengths with Epona Plays (Australia) a neck away third.
It is the third win from six starts for the Joseph O’Brien-trained Thundering Nights.
Inbred 4×3 to Seeking The Gold, Thundering Nights is the only named foal of her dam Cape Castle (Cape Cross) and her granddam Kaabari (Seeking The Gold) a winner in the UK and a half-sister to Gr3 Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor winner Queens Best (King’s Best), the dam of Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Queens Trust (Dansili).
The third-dam Cloud Castle (In The Wings) won the Gr3 Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket and placed in the Prix Vermeille and Yorkshire Oaks.
2000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) was the leading first-season sire in Europe in 2019 and is advertised at €25,000 at Kildangan Stud in Ireland in 2020. He will be available for southern hemisphere covers later this year.
