Nickajack Cave is the 12th Group winner for Kendargent after winning Thursday’s Gr3 Ballyroan Stakes (12f) at Leopardstown.
Smothered away along the inside in the small field till approaching the home turn, Nickajack Cave was able to come through between horses and strike the front, staying on strongly to defeat Fresnel (Sea The Stars) by half a length with Mythical (Camelot) three-quarters of a length away third.
Previously a Listed winner, the Ger Lyons-trained Nickajack Cave is now the winner of four of his 10 starts.
He is the only named foal of the unraced Could You Be Loved (Montjeu) while the granddam Light My Way (Polish Precedent) was also unraced and a half-sister to Gr1 winner Pride (Peintre Celebre), the dam of Gr2 winner One Foot In Heaven (Fastnet Rock), and Gr3 winner and Gr1-placed Fate (Teofilo).
Light My Way is also a half-sister to Specifically, the winning dam of 1,000 Guineas winner Speciosa (Danehill Dancer), the US Gr3 winner Major Rhythm (Rhythm).
Standing at Haras de Colleville in France, Kendargent (Kendor) also has Gr2 winner Restiadargent and Gr3 winner Soleil Marin out of mares by Montjeu.
