Albarado is SW103 for Savabeel winning the Gr3 Norman Robinson Stakes (2000m) for 3yos.
Albarado looked keen early in a slowly run race and then made a sustained run from 800m out, challenging in the home straight and staying on strongly to defeat Lets Karaka Deel (Dundeel) and Hit The Shot (Dundeel) in a driving finish.
It is the second win from six starts for Albarado, a $140,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Sale purchase by co-trainer Trent Busuttin.
His dam O’Fille (O’Reilly) won six races in New Zealand including the Gr3 Trentham Stakes and Cuddle Stakes at Trentham as well as finishing runner-up in the Gr1 Zabeel Classic at Ellerslie.
Champion New Zealand sire Savabeel (Zabeel) has enjoyed great success with mares by O’Reilly (Last Tycoon) who preceded him at Waikato Stud with Gr1 winners Savaria, Costume, Diademe and Embellish out of O’Reilly mares and Savvy Coup and The Chosen One with O’Reilly as their maternal grandsire.
He is advertised at $100,000 at Waikato Stud in 2020.
